Indiana Afterschool Standards

As a member of the Afterschool Coalition of Indianapolis we know you are committed to quality afterschool programs. We also know that children and youth who participate in high quality afterschool programs are most successful.

In order to determine the level of quality in afterschool programs, Indiana convened a taskforce of youth development experts to create the Indiana Afterschool Standards. The Taskforce researched afterschool standards throughout the nation to develop best practice, research-based guidelines for the state of Indiana .

The standards touch on all aspects of afterschool programs such as human relationships, indoor and outdoor environments, programming and activities, safety, health, nutrition, and administration. The Afterschool Coalition of Indianapolis supports the use of these standards as a tool for quality improvement in each of these areas.
